The Recording Academy — Compton ft. Kendrick Lamar
As part of the Witness Greatness campaign, we captured Kendrick Lamar and local Compton residents (including the mayor) perform a powerful rendition of “Alright”, which was nominated for Best Rap Song (one of his 11 nominations that year).
With zero paid media, the film earned 197 million impressions. In the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement, the film became a poignant celebration of not just Kendrick, but the entire community and its Greatness.
