Textured Waves — Natural
Textured Waves is a surf collective celebrating women of color through representation, community and sisterly camaraderie. In this short film, co-founders Danielle, Chelsea, and Martina celebrate the importance of self-acceptance as African American water women.
I was the creative director for the film’s visuals, and led the discussion with Textured Waves about what they hope to achieve for the surf community, the importance of representation in media, and the impact the ocean has had on their lives. The film has been screened at festivals in Malibu, Venice, DTLA, Canada, and most recently at the Honolulu Surf Film Festival.
